Position: Program Assistant (Workforce Grants)

Bilingual Program Assistant

Skagit Valley College is accepting applications for a Bilingual Program Assistant with the Work First and Early Achievers Grant programs. This position will be housed in the Workforce Grants office and will communicate with students during their enrollment process into the Work First and EAG programs, as well as during their time utilizing funding. Some students may be receiving benefits from DSHS, experiencing homelessness, considered low–income, or need additional assistance;

it is important for the person in this position to have a student–centered philosophy – students are the top priority.

This position is a 12-month classified position, working 100% full-time, which is 40 hours per week. The incumbent will work in-person Monday through Friday. This position is grant-funded and contingent on continued grant funding. This position reports to the Workforce Grants Manager and will assist with administrative activities associated with Work First and Early Achievers. The position will work closely with Workforce Grants staff, as well as other Student Services staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

Workfirst Compliance and Bilingual Support

  • Assist with the completion, tracking, and documenting of all attendance for Work First students for compliance with SBCTC. This includes Vocational Education students, ELA students, and Basic Education students;
  • Create and fill out a weekly spreadsheet to track attendance that has been turned in, any excused/unexcused absences, and assist in documenting these instances in eJAS;
  • Communicate with current and future Work First students regarding attendance and reminders when they are due;
  • Hold workshops to assist students with the completion of their attendance hours when necessary;
  • Assist in the creation of the quarterly attendance forms within Form Stack for each student;
  • Assist Work First students with general Work First questions;
  • Check the Workfirst email and respond to student questions or forward to the Grant Specialist as appropriate;
