Senior Process Engineer – Schreiber Foods
This role focuses on optimizing the upstream dairy process, improving blending, standardization, heat treatment, filtration, and sanitation to enhance production performance.
Responsibilities- Act as a subject matter expert in fluid‑related process engineering and provide day‑to‑day process engineering support.
- Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for improved efficiency, productivity, capability, risk, and cost reduction.
- Develop and drive engineering strategies around processing line capability, capacity, and optimization that align with organizational priorities.
- Design and implement improvements to increase yield, reduce waste, improve throughput, reduce cycle times, eliminate bottlenecks, and streamline operations while maintaining food safety.
- Collaborate with Operations Excellence and Data Science/Analytics teams to leverage data for process optimization.
- Lead or assist in new equipment installations or modifications, from concept to commissioning, focusing on maximizing output, minimizing downtime, and reducing operational risk.
- Perform process capability studies to predict manufacturing trends and support stability in day‑to‑day operations.
- Collaborate with Project Engineers on capital projects, including scoping, budgeting, schedule, construction planning, downtime planning, and risk mitigation.
- Maintain accurate documentation such as process manuals, plant P&IDs, CCP definitions, SOPs, and equipment specifications, emphasizing standardization and best‑practice sharing.
- Ensure compliance with Food Safety and Food Quality Plans and customer requirements.
- Interpret and communicate customer requirements to production and support groups.
- Establish and audit PCPs, CCPs, and SOPs to maintain customer requirement compliance and determine corrective actions for incidents.
- Travel up to 10% of the time.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical or Process Engineering preferred).
- Master’s degree a plus but not required.
- 8+ years of engineering experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) a plus but not required.
- Experience in fluid‑related processing or equivalent.
- Experience with FDA, USDA, or other regulated food and beverage environments.
- Technical knowledge of aseptic processing, heat treatment, filtration and separation, and blending.
- Ability to execute medium‑size capital projects, redesign existing equipment, process flows, and design improvements.
- Strong understanding of food safety regulations and quality management systems (HACCP, GMP, QMS, etc.).
- Strong understanding of process safety, safe design and hazard assessments (OSHA, HAZOP, LOPA, etc.).
- Experience performing FMEA, CIP, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics in the dairy industry.
- Solid understanding of developing P& (AutoCAD) and PID loop tuning for current and new process designs.
- Relocation bonus of $10,000 plus a generous relocation package for relocations over 50 miles.
