ICE Validation Project Engineer - Global Powertrain Validation

The PACCAR Global Powertrain department is seeking a highly motivated Internal Combustion Engine Validation Engineer in our Powertrain Validation Team to lead the planning and execution of engine, powertrain, and vehicle validation activities. This role will collaborate closely with engineering and test departments to develop a comprehensive risk mitigation plan and ensure it is executed in alignment with the program schedule to support market introduction plans.

The ideal candidate for this role will have strong technical expertise in engine validation, excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Job Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage risk-based DVP&R for engine, powertrain, and vehicle programs.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, and global test teams to define validation requirements and support program milestones.
  • Create, standardize, and improve global validation procedures and test protocols.
  • Ensure test plans are complete, aligned with program objectives, and executed effectively.
  • Coordinate validation activities with internal and external test resources to meet timing and quality targets.
  • Support program management with validation budgets, resource forecasting, and test equipment planning.
  • Analyze test results and communicate performance, risks, issues, and recommended actions.
  • Develop validation metrics and provide regular status updates to program and leadership teams.
  • Identify validation risks and drive mitigation plans to support successful product launches.
  • Conduct supplier assessments and technical reviews to establish testing requirements and validate supplier capabilities.
  • Support design reviews, FMEA activities, root cause investigations, and corrective action development.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on validation efficiency, test effectiveness, and process standardization.
  • Travel up to 30% domestically and internationally.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in engine, powertrain, or vehicle validation and testing.
  • Strong understanding of internal combustion engines, powertrain systems, and product development processes.
  • Experience developing and executing DVP&R and validation plans.
  • Knowledge of durability, reliability, performance, emissions, and environmental testing.
  • Experience with laboratory, dynamometer, vehicle, and field testing.
  • Strong data analysis, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Education Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
