The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney's Office is looking to fill positions of Deputy Prosecutor I, II or III. These roles will direct juvenile or criminal caseloads and are responsible for accomplishing legal assignments delegated by the Prosecuting Attorney, including legal opinions, analysis of legal principles, and litigation outcomes in criminal matters on behalf of the State of Washington.

• Direct a juvenile or criminal caseload.
• Prepare legal opinions and analysis of legal principles.
• Handle litigation outcomes in criminal matters for the state.
• Maintain highest degree of ethical conduct.

• Admission to the Washington State Bar Association.
• Completion of a minimum of 45 hours of continuing legal education every three years per WSBA guidelines.
• Admission must remain continuous during employment.
• Relevant experience levels:
  • DPA I – 0 to 2 years of criminal or juvenile trial experience.
  • DPA II – 3 to 5 or more years of criminal or juvenile legal experience, including prior appellate experience.
  • DPA III – 5 or more years of criminal or juvenile legal experience, including prior appellate issue experience.
• Valid Washington State driver’s license or ability to obtain one.
• Subject to a background check.
• Compliant with EEO/ADA requirements.

• Deputy Prosecuting Attorney I – Exempt Full-time, MG 19, Salary range $7,642.31 – $9,125.31, DOQ. Full medical benefits, including dental and vision. Retirement through Washington State DRS. 12 days vacation, 11 paid holidays, sick leave, bereavement leave.
• Deputy Prosecuting Attorney II – Exempt Full-time, MG 20, Salary range $8,215.48 – $9,809.71, DOQ. Full medical benefits, including dental and vision. Retirement through Washington State DRS. 12 days vacation, 11 paid holidays, sick leave, bereavement leave.
• Deputy Prosecuting Attorney III – Exempt Full-time, MG 22, Salary range $9,494.01 – $11,336.35, DOQ. Full medical benefits, including dental and vision. Retirement through Washington State DRS. 12 days vacation, 11 paid holidays, sick leave, bereavement leave.
