Job Summary:

Responsible for the workflow processes involved in the distribution (CS Technician), receiving (Warehouse Receiving Technician), sterile processing (SPD Technician) and mailroom (Mailroom Technician) functions. This position floats to Materials Management, Receiving and the Mailroom. Works effectively and cooperatively within the workplace. Location/Department specific tasks and competencies may apply.

Essential Functions:

  • Inventories and replenishes supply levels of all nursing and designated ancillary locations and designated clinic departments and locations.
  • Issues, picks, processes and delivers all requests for supplies and clinical equipment.
  • Documents all supply replenishments and specialty carts exchanges and restocking.
  • Assists with offloading supplies, equipment and furnishings of incoming freight and is responsible for the receiving, warehousing and delivery of supplies, furnishings and equipment.
  • Works within the current requirements of Inventory Control as order placing, picking case carts and stocking for procedures and surgeries in the OR and Cath Lab.
  • Works within the current requirements of the Mailroom Technician job description:
    Retrieve mail from the US Post Office and Business Office or mailbox. Sort incoming mail, interdepartmental mail, meter outgoing mail and deliver to the US Post Office and Mount Vernon Skagit Regional Clinics.
  • Maintain ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office (Outlook) and department specific software applications to perform work.
  • Communicate effectively and cooperatively in the workplace.
  • Actively contribute to the achievement of Quality Improvement and Lean Process Improvement activities.
  • Complete all mandatory learning requirements in a timely manner.
  • Maintain current licensure and/or certification as required.
  • Attend and actively participate in all department, team and/or committee meetings.
  • Comply with all Skagit Regional Health, department and location specific policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or designee.

Education:

High School diploma or GED preferred. Relevant skills and ability may be substituted in lieu of education.

Experience/Training:
Minimum six (6) months materials management/central service/warehouse receiving experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

License/

Certifications:

Valid Washington State Driver's License required. Current Automobile Liability Insurance required. Forklift certification and Electric Pallet Jack certification required upon first available class and prior to use of equipment. Hazmat certification required within the first 6 months of hire.

Other

Skills:

Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills required. Must be able to effectively utilize Microsoft Office applications to perform work. Well-developed problem solving and analytical skills required. Must be able to effectively prioritize workload amongst frequent interruptions with competing priorities. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Ability to coordinate work schedule with requirements of position (may include overtime and weekend work).

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects weighing over 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
