Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic team at Schreiber Foods. You will play a pivotal role in optimizing our production processes, ensuring the efficient and cost‑effective manufacturing of our food products. This position is 100% on‑site at our Mount Vernon, Missouri manufacturing plant.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and identify improvements in efficiency, productivity, capability, risk, and cost.
  • Design and implement improvements to enhance yield, reduce waste, increase throughput, improve cycle times, and eliminate bottlenecks while maintaining food safety and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with Operations Excellence and Data Science/Analytics teams to leverage data for process optimization.
  • Work cross‑functionally to scale new products from concept to production, ensuring seamless integration into existing processes.
  • Partner with Maintenance and Reliability Engineering to ensure equipment uptime, reliability, and predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Lead or assist in new equipment installations or modifications from concept to commissioning, focusing on output maximization, downtime reduction, and risk mitigation.
  • Use data analysis and statistics to identify bottlenecks and variability, and implement data‑driven solutions to increase overall efficiency.
  • Conduct Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify potential failure points, risks, and weaknesses.
  • Develop strategies to reduce operational risk and enhance process reliability with Reliability Engineering.
  • Define and own manufacturing process control plans, set up in‑process measurement systems, and monitor/process trending, including SPC of critical parameters.
  • Perform process capability studies to predict trends and meet customer specifications.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Participate in selection and evaluation of equipment, tools, and materials for optimal performance and cost‑effectiveness.
  • Partner with Controls Engineering to leverage automation and digitalization, ensuring compliance with food safety and quality plans and customer requirements.
  • Interpret and communicate customer requirements to production and support groups; establish and audit PCPs, CCPs, and SOPs.
  • Review incidents where procedures are not met and determine appropriate corrective action.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical, Chemical, or a related engineering field).
  • 0–6 years of engineering experience; experience in the food industry or a related field is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of food safety regulations and quality management systems such as HACCP, GMP, and FDA, or willingness to learn.
  • Project management experience is a plus.
  • Collaborative approach and excellent communication skills for effective cross‑functional teamwork.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
