DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY:
The MV Hope Coalition Coordinator provides leadership, coordination, and administration of the MV Hope Coalition, a community-based substance use prevention coalition serving the Mount Vernon School District through Washington State's Community Prevention and Wellness Initiative (CPWI).
The Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, evaluating, and sustaining coalition activities using the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) and evidence-based prevention practices. This position builds partnerships across multiple community sectors, facilitates coalition development, oversees prevention planning and evaluation, manages contract deliverables, and coordinates community-wide prevention initiatives that improve youth behavioral health outcomes.
Working collaboratively with community leaders, schools, youth-serving organizations, healthcare providers, law enforcement, behavioral health agencies, businesses, local government, parents, youth, and other partners, the Coordinator promotes environmental prevention strategies, strengthens protective factors, and supports long-term community capacity to prevent youth substance use and promote mental wellness.
The Coordinator functions with a high degree of independence while maintaining close collaboration with YMCA leadership, Health Care Authority Prevention System Managers, prevention providers, subcontractors, and coalition members to ensure successful implementation of grant requirements and measurable community impact.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Coalition Development & Leadership
- Coordinate and facilitate the MV Hope Community Coalition, ensuring representation from all required community sectors.
- Recruit, orient, train, and retain diverse coalition members reflective of the Mount Vernon community.
- Build coalition capacity through education, leadership development, and technical assistance.
- Coordinate coalition committees, work groups, strategic planning sessions, and annual action planning.
- Foster collaboration among schools, healthcare providers, youth organizations, law enforcement, local government, businesses, faith communities, parents, and youth.
- Represent MV Hope at local, regional, statewide, and national prevention meetings, conferences, and collaborative initiatives.
- Collaborate with neighboring coalitions and regional prevention partners to strengthen community prevention efforts.
- Recruit and supervise volunteers, interns, and community partners as appropriate.
Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) Implementation
Lead coalition implementation using the Strategic Prevention Framework by:
