This position is for Skagit County Jail. 1 FT- 36 hrs/wk Nights 6p-630a (Rotation of Wed, Thu, Fri/ Thu, Fri, Sat). Night positions available. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team in providing mental health support for juveniles. This role focuses on the unique needs of adolescents in psychiatric or juvenile justice settings, ensuring high-quality care, medication management, and collaboration with families and multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and support psychiatry appointments tailored to the juvenile population.
  • Communicate with parents and guardians, providing updates and ensuring understanding of care plans.
  • Administer and monitor medications, including bridging prescriptions and verifying medication orders.
  • Track patient progress, participate in team huddles, and maintain organized, detailed records.
  • Order and follow up on labs as part of comprehensive mental health care.
  • Provide educational materials and support to families to enhance understanding of treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals, to provide holistic care.
  • Advocate for the mental health needs of juveniles while fostering a supportive and empathetic environment.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare standards and regulations specific to the juvenile population.
Qualifications
  • Current and valid RN license.
  • Experience working with children or adolescents, particularly in mental health or juvenile justice settings, is highly preferred.
  • Strong ability to communicate with minors and their families in a compassionate, clear, and professional manner.
  • Skilled in medication administration and tracking.
  • Commitment to understanding and addressing the unique challenges faced by juveniles in mental health care.
