Job Overview

RN – Radiology (PRN) at SSMS Health Good Samaritan Hospital – Mount Vernon. The role provides direct nursing care in a collaborative radiology setting, applying medical‑surgical nursing practices to enhance patient quality of life.

• Day shift; most hours between 0630–1430 or 0630–1630.
• Commitment: 4 shifts per month.
• Holiday requirement: 1 holiday per rotation.
• Weekends:
  None.
• On‑call:
  None at this time.

• Use medical‑surgical nursing standards to improve patient care quality.
• Establish relationships and advocate for patients, families, and significant others.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans using the nursing process.
• Assess patient conditions considering physical, functional, cultural, social, economic, developmental, spiritual, vocational, and leisure dimensions.
• Coordinate care with inter‑professional teams, ensuring culturally sensitive and ethical practices.
• Educate patients, families, and colleagues about health promotion and comfort measures.
• Serve as a mentor and role model to nursing peers and students.
• Apply evidence‑based practice to deliver age‑specific and clinically appropriate care.
• Maintain a constant state of alertness and work safely, performing other duties as assigned.

• Education:
  
  Graduate of an accredited nursing school or equivalent for licensing.
• Experience:
  
  No prior experience required; preferred experience in Cardiology, CSU, or ICU.
• Physical Requirements:
  
  Regular standing, walking, lifting (0–25 lbs), occasional lifting (25–50 lbs), driving, and routine use of vision, hearing, and mouth for communication.
• Certifications:
  
  Registered RN (RN) – Illinois;
  Basic Life Support (BLS HCP) – AHA; and at least one of the following:
  • Certified Medical‑Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN) – MSNCB or AACN
  • Certified Oncology Nurse (OCN) – ONCC
  • Medical‑Surgical Nurse–Board Certified (RN‑BC) – ANCC or AACN
  • Orthopedic Nurse Certified (ONC) – ONCB
  • Stroke Certified Registered Nurse (SCRN) – ABNN
  • Vascular Access Certification (VA‑BC) – VACC
