Through classroom and on-the-job training (OJT), learns and applies fundamentals of Plumbingtrade.
REQUIREMENTS:- Able to work Monday-Friday with occasional evenings and weekends as needed. Must be flexible with schedule.
- Reliable transportation- go to sites in DC, VA, and MD.
- 0-1 years of prior experience as a laborer, skilled laborer, helper, or in another related trade.
- Satisfactory background check and initial/random drug tests.
- Dependable and reliable.
- Works well with team, including other trades.
- Inquisitive: wants to learn; asks questions.
- Communicates effectively in English.
- Able to lift five to fifty pounds (5-50lbs), with or without assistance, frequently.
- Able to sit, stand, bend, walk, climb, and remain in static positions for duration of shift.
- Able to withstand exposure to heights, tight/confined spaces; work in dusty areas; work in temperature extremes; be exposed to external elements (wind, rain, snow, etc).
- Attend apprentice classes in trade and maintains OJT logs.
- Work under immediate supervision of Master/Journey worker, Leadman, or Foreman to assemble/complete work.
- Learn appropriate Plumbingcode.
- Learn how to read blue prints, and uses to install Plumbingsystems.
- Assemble work laid out by Journey/Master worker.
- Learn how to cut and thread up to 2" pipe; sweat and solder pipe; tack-weld steel pipe; cut steel pipe with torch.
- Learn plumbingtechniques.
- Learn about specifications.
- Learn the mechanics and principles of Plumbing.
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude.
- Perform arithmetic calculations (add/subtract/multiply/divide, including fractions and decimals)
- Any other duties requested by Supervisor.
