Position: Eastside Middle School - Library Media Specialist 2026-2027
Eastside Middle School is seeking an innovative, collaborative, and student-centered Librarian/Library Media Specialist to lead a dynamic library program that promotes literacy, inquiry, creativity, and authentic learning. The ideal candidate is passionate about working alongside teachers to co-plan and co-teach engaging lessons, foster a culture of reading, lead school wide reading programs, and support school and district initiatives through meaningful learning experiences.

Candidate must have Kentucky Certification and possess all other requirements according to BCPS.
Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with teachers, instructional coaches, and administrators to design and deliver engaging, standards-based instruction.
  • Co-plan and co-teach lessons that integrate literacy, research, technology, and inquiry-based learning.
  • Lead and coordinate school wide reading programs, literacy initiatives, book clubs, reading challenges, and special events that inspire a lifelong love of reading.
  • Promote reading engagement and student choice by creating opportunities for students to explore diverse and relevant literature.
  • Curate and maintain an inclusive, student-centered library collection and learning environment.
  • Design authentic learning experiences that promote critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and digital citizenship.
  • Guide students in research, media literacy, and responsible technology use.
  • Manage library resources, technology, and daily library operations.
  • Support school improvement efforts and district priorities through instructional leadership and collaboration.
  • Oversee and support the Eagle Eyes Morning News Broadcast, helping students develop communication, journalism, media production, and leadership skills.
  • Coordinate student-led news broadcasts that celebrate school events, achievements, and community engagement.
This position is for the  school year. Salary based on board approved salary schedule for the  school year.
