Assist certified teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups; monitor and report student progress.
Qualifications & Requirements- Have strong communication skills and the ability to relate to students.
- Have the belief that all kids can learn at high levels.
- Have a positive attitude and a tremendous work ethic.
- Be dedicated to the profession.
- Education: Must meet one of the following:
- 48 college semester hours
- An Associate’s Degree or
- High school diploma plus a passing score on the Para educator Assessment Exam.
- Documentation: Candidates must provide proof of educational requirements to HR upon recommendation for hire.
Contract Length: 183 days per year
- 170 student instructional days
- 4 holidays
- 7 planning days
Contract Adjustments: Contracted days will be prorated based on the start date.
Employment Status: Full-time with benefits
Employment Type: 10‑month employee on the classified pay schedule

Compensation & Experience CreditPay Scale
- Starting Pay (Step 0): $16.46 /hour
- Experienced Pay (Step 10): $20.26 /hour

- The hired applicant is responsible for submitting the BCPS Verification of Experience Form to prior employers for completion and return to HR.
Payroll
Note:
While this is an hourly position, the salary is distributed via a year‑long contract over 10 months. You will receive 4 paychecks at the end of June.
Salary Formula:
Hours per day × Hourly rate = Daily rate
Daily rate × Contracted days = Annual salary.
Annual salary ÷ Remaining pay periods = Gross biweekly pay.
- Retirement: Membership in the Kentucky Public Pensions Authority (KPPA).
- Life Insurance (Total $50,000): FREE TO YOU! $20,000 paid by the State of Kentucky and $30,000 paid by BCPS.
- Health Coverage: Comprehensive Health Insurance (employee premium based on plan selected) or Waiver HRA options.
- Time Off: Sick Leave, Personal Leave, and Emergency Leave (prorated). Unused Personal Leave rolls over to Sick Leave. Unused Sick Leave rolls over.
