Farm

Location:

Berry, KY (Events throughout KY & OH)

Job Type: Part-time / Seasonal / Gig-Based (March – December)

Pay Rate: $25 – $28 per hour

This is gig-based work with frequent opportunities.Event staff accepts or declines work on a week to week basis. Provided that your availability is fairly regular throughout the season, there is no penalty for declining work or changing your availability during certain intervals. But on the flip side, hours are never guaranteed.

About Honey Hill Farm

Honey Hill Farm provides interactive zoo experiences for birthdays, church programs and educational events at libraries, schools and communities centers. While “Farm” is in our name and we do work with traditional livestock animals, we are not a working farm. Our animals are just pets and ambassadors.

We are committed to introducing children and families to animals they may otherwise never get to experience by providing happy, interactive petting zoos and friendly, knowledgeable staff.

The Role:

Where Grit Meets Polish

This role is not just about driving a truck or “working with animals.” You will arrive at the farm, ensure your animals are loaded safely, drive large trucks and trailers to events, set up the display, and then manage the event—ensuring children are safe, animals are happy, and clients are thrilled.

You are the “Captain of the Ship” for the day, often working independently or leading a small crew of event assistants, while taking full responsibility for the success of your events.

When you return to the farm, you will carefully follow the instructions provided about returning animals to their proper place, ensure your truck is ready to go out the next day, that your post-event paperwork is complete, and that the farm and its animals are in safe circumstances.

This job is physically demanding. Sometimes you will work in the mud, the hot sun and the freezing cold. You’ll lift heavy gates, climb in and out of stock trailers and handle livestock. And then when the event starts, you must present with the polish of a country club concierge. You need the grit of a farm hand and the warmth of a kindergarten teacher.

The

Animals

You will be working hands-on with our beloved animal ambassadors. While we provide training on our specific handling protocols,
previous animal experience is highly preferred. You must be comfortable handling and caring for:

Small Cattle

Chickens

Camels (Yes, camels!)

This position is designed as supplementary income. It is perfect for active retirees, freelancers, or professionals with flexible schedules who want to stay active and earn extra money doing something meaningful.

Who Should Apply (And Who Shouldn’t)

Do NOT apply if: You are currently unemployed and seeking a full-time, primary income source. The hours are variable (0–30 hours/week) and seasonal. Applicants looking for a temporary stop-gap between full-time jobs will not be happy here.

DO apply if: You have a pension or another income source, love animals, and want a job that requires responsibility, problem-solving, and autonomy.

What We Are Looking For

Unshakeable Reliability: Our business runs on trust. A call-in or no-show doesn’t just inconvenience us; it ruins a child’s birthday party. We need people who honor their commitments.

The “Animal & Kid” Factor: You must genuinely love both. You need to be able to answer the same question from a toddler ten times with a smile.

Driving Ability: Experience hauling livestock trailers or driving large vehicles is highly preferred.

Note:

If you have the “grit and polish” but lack the driving or animal experience,
please still apply. We often hire promising candidates as Event Assistants (at a different pay rate) to train them into the Driver role.

Requirements

Availability:
The hours are highly variable and often include very early mornings (6am) and very late nights (after midnight). Must be available to work 2–3 days a week (weekdays or weekends). Shifts are long (8–14 hours) due to travel and setup, though actual event time is typically 1–4 hours.

Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license with a clean record.

No DUIs or reckless driving charges in the last 7 years.

No excessive speeding…
