Richard McKenna Charter Schools Position: 7/8 Grade Math/Science Teacher
Richard McKenna Charter Schools is seeking teachers who want to be inventive, creative and work in an extremely positive environment. If you are that person then Richard McKenna Charter Schools is the place for you. Richard McKenna uses Project-Based Learning to foster student inquiry, growth, and problem solving. Class sizes are limited to 24 students and include an assistant to the teacher, resulting in a 12 to 1 ratio.
Inquiry, building unique projects, field trips and engaging with the community are all encouraged and supported.
We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications and interests:
Qualifications- Hold a valid Idaho Educator license for grades K-8, or a secondary or middle grades endorsement in Math and/or science.
- Alternatively, applicants with a college degree in a math or science-related field can be considered.
- Willing and dedicated to creating a top-notch project-based learning program for middle school students.
- Dedication to providing a safe, respectful, and welcoming learning environment for students.
- Commitment to the success of ALL students and ability to understand and teach to the various learning styles of students.
- Ability to integrate technology into a blended class environment.
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the student population served and how demographic variables influence student achievement, and effectively uses this knowledge to design and deliver instruction.
- The ability to effectively engage students in goal-setting and reflecting on their learning.
- Demonstrates knowledge and expertise in multiple content and pedagogy.
- Ability to develop and integrate project-based learning and to target rigorous learning and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge and/or experience using "backwards design" for lesson development, differentiated instruction to support all students, and formative assessment to provide student feedback and to adjust lesson delivery.
- Excellent teaching, organization, planning, written and oral communication, and collaboration skills.
- Effectively integrates transferable skills into the learning environment.
- Commitment to continuous improvement in the areas of content and pedagogical knowledge and professional practice.
