QualificationsGraduation from high school or possession of a GED supplemented by additional education and training in heavy equipment operation, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.
General Statement of DutiesThe principal function of an employee in this position is to perform skilled manual labor, maintenance work, and operate motorized machinery and heavy equipment to repair and maintain the City's streets as well as related work as required and assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of: safe operation of hand and power tools, operation and maintenance of heavy equipment including backhoes, front end loaders, and dump trucks, methods, materials, procedures, and standard practices of street and right-of-way construction and repair including concrete and asphalt repair, removal, and replacement, methods, materials, procedures, and standard practices of snow removal, sanding, and de-icing. Ability to safely and effectively operate hand and power tools, communicate well with others, both orally and in writing, using both technical and non-technical language, understand and follow oral and/or written policies, procedures and instructions, operate motorized vehicles, light, and heavy equipment, understand and follow effective safety practices and procedures.
