What

you will be responsible for

We are seeking a dedicated and highly organized Material Handler to join our residential construction team. The Material Handler will be responsible for safely and efficiently distributing materials and tools between construction sites. This role requires attention to detail, strong physical stamina, and the ability to work collaboratively with other team members to ensure the smooth flow of materials and tools required for our onsite projects.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Transport tools and materials from Site Ops centralized inventory to the designated job sites throughout the Southern Bay Area and Peninsula, as requested by the Materials Manager and Project Coordinator. Ensure timely delivery to avoid delays in construction schedules.
  • With Materials Manager, Project Coordinator, and Site Team, coordinate and execute material and tool returns from construction sites to Site Ops centralized inventory to ensure that unnecessary items are removed from sites.
  • Receive, store, and organize construction tools & materials in Site Ops centralized inventory. Ensure materials are properly marked, tracked, and stored to prevent damage or loss.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records. Perform regular checks and audits to ensure materials are accounted for and that there is no shortage or excess. Report discrepancies to Construction Materials Manager.
  • Safely load and unload materials from trucks and storage areas. Operate material handling equipment, such as dolleys or pallet jacks, to move heavy materials to and from the storage locations or construction site as needed.
  • Work closely with Materials Manager, Project Coordinator, Superintendents and Foremen to ensure tools and materials are available when needed and construction timelines are met.
  • Inspect and maintain material handling equipment, ensuring all tools and machinery are in safe working condition. Report any mechanical issues promptly.
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines for handling materials, tools, and equipment. Report any unsafe conditions or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills
  • Previous experience as a Material Handler, Warehouse Worker, or in a similar role, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Applicants must own a reliable truck suitable for transporting materials/equipment as part of the job requirements.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy materials on a regular basis.
  • Comfortable working in outdoor environments and in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely operate pallet jacks or other material handling equipment.
  • Basic math skills to assist with inventory control and material management.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to speed, quality and safety.
