Location: NASA Ames Research Center - Mountain View, CA
Job Type: 3-Month Contract
Schedule: Fridays Only, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Pay Rate:$50.00-$100.00 per hour (DOE)

The Construction Manager provides construction management and construction administration support throughout all phases of a project, ensuring work is completed in accordance with contract documents, project specifications, applicable codes, quality standards, Cal/OSHA and OSHA safety requirements, and owner requirements. The Construction Manager serves as the primary liaison between the owner, design team, contractors, and project stakeholders to facilitate successful project delivery.

  • BA/BS + minimum of 10 years of experience working as construction manager or demonstrated equivalence of experience and/or education.
  • Cal-OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety and Health certification (or equivalent OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety training).
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local building codes, construction standards, and construction safety regulations.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Administer construction contracts and monitor contractor compliance with contract requirements, project specifications, approved submittals, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Review contractor submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), design packages, schedules, and other construction documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Perform field investigations, site observations, and quality assurance inspections to verify construction activities and installed work.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with Cal/OSHA, OSHA, and project-specific health and safety requirements, and identify potential safety issues requiring corrective action.
  • Coordinate and monitor construction activities to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with the approved project schedule.
  • Lead and participate in construction progress meetings, owner meetings, preconstruction meetings, and coordination meetings; prepare meeting agendas, minutes, and action items.
  • Coordinate third-party testing, special inspections, Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) inspections, utility shutdowns, and project commissioning activities.
  • Monitor contractor schedules, evaluate schedule impacts and delays, and support schedule recovery planning.
  • Review contractor payment applications, change orders, claims, as-built documents, punch lists, and project closeout documentation.
  • Maintain project records, including submittal logs, RFI logs, inspection reports, meeting minutes, photographs, and other construction documentation.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary activities among owners, architects, engineers, contractors, inspectors, utility providers, and regulatory agencies to resolve technical and construction-related issues.
  • Support contract administration by assisting with contract interpretation, responding to contractor inquiries, evaluating field conditions, and recommendingtechnical solutions.
  • Monitor construction quality, safety, and regulatory compliance, ensuring adherence to applicable building codes, industry standards, environmental regulations and Cal/OSHA/OSHA requirements.
  • Assist with project closeout activities, including verification of completed work, final inspections, turnover documentation, and resolution of outstanding deficiencies.
