Architect / Sr. Architect, Engineering Design & Technologists, Safety Engineer, Environmental & Urban Planning
We're looking for a hands-on highly skilled industrial architect to own the facility architecture and building design requirements for our titanium and zirconium production facilities. This is a critical technical leadership role where you'll translate process, operations, safety, logistics, and maintenance requirements into practical industrial building designs. You will act as AAM's owner-side architectural lead, working closely with EPC partners responsible for civil and structural execution while making sure the facility is buildable, code-compliant, maintainable, safe, and ready to support first-of-its-kind advanced materials production at scale.
ResponsibilitiesOwn architectural scope for pilot, demonstration, and commercial-scale materials production facilities
Translate process and operational requirements into building layouts and facility requirements
Define and review architectural basis of design, building programs, room data sheets, adjacency plans, circulation concepts, envelope requirements, life-safety concepts, egress strategies, and occupancy assumptions
Serve as AAM's technical owner for architectural interfaces with EPC firms, specialty consultants and authorities having jurisdiction
Review EPC and architect-engineer deliverables for technical quality, code compliance, constructability, maintainability, operational fit, and long-term flexibility
Drive facility design decisions for industrial buildings with demanding cleanliness, ventilation, corrosion resistance, hazardous-material handling, fire/life-safety, and process-containment requirements
Support permitting, code analysis, fire protection strategy, hazardous occupancy analysis, accessibility, environmental interfaces, and authority-having-jurisdiction reviews
Lead constructability, operability, maintainability, and value-engineering reviews that reduce facility complexity without compromising safety or plant performance
Support construction, commissioning, punch-list resolution, turnover, and early operations as the architectural owner's representative
Build AAM's internal facility architecture standards, design review practices, drawing expectations, preferred partners, and execution playbooks
8+ years of architecture, industrial architecture, architectural engineering, or facility design experience in chemical plants, semiconductors, mining, metals, energy production or other highly demanding industrial environments
Proven success working in large capital projects with extremely fast turnarounds
Proven success leading or reviewing architectural scope from front-end engineering through detailed design, construction, commissioning, or facility startup
Bachelor's or higher-level degree in Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related technical field
Strong understanding of building layouts, life safety, egress, fire separations, building envelopes, equipment access, material/personnel flows, HVAC interfaces, maintenance access, clean/dirty area separation, and operational support spaces
Experience reviewing architectural drawings, building plans, specifications, room data sheets, code studies, submittals, RFIs, field changes, and construction packages
Familiarity with IBC, IFC, NFPA, OSHA, accessibility requirements, hazardous occupancy concepts, industrial ventilation interfaces, and local permitting processes
Strong practical judgment about constructability, building systems, material durability, corrosion resistance, coatings, maintainability, field sequencing, and commissioning risk
Very high proficiency in Revit or similar BIM systems
Working experience with Solidworks, AutoCAD or other CAD systems is a plus
Registered Architect, P.E., NCARB certification, or experience as an owner's architectural representative on a major capital project is a strong plus
Base salary: $185K - $260K
Significant equity compensation aligned with public benchmarks for senior early team members
Your actual compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: location, job-related knowledge and skills, education, and demonstrated prior scope and experience.
We offer comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, company 401(k) and other benefits. We have a flexible paid time-off (PTO) policy
