Candidates are desired to have experience in playing at the college/professional level and coaching experience at the high school or college levels.

The mission of the program is to generate school spirit and promote sportsmanship at athletic and other events, with a balanced emphasis on competition success.

This coaching position does not require a teaching certificate. Head coaches who are qualified to teach may be paid the hourly teacher rate for one class period during the school year (45–90 days) plus a district‑approved extra‑curricular stipend. A teaching position may become available if the skill set matches current hiring needs in the district.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and run safe and effective practices, caring for the needs of the athletes.
  • Select and prepare the competition team for local and national competitions.
  • Work, communicate, and collaborate with athletes, staff, parents, administration, and support staff to support the school's vision for the team.
  • Maintain a positive image for the school, community, and team.
  • Engage in school and community events.
  • Support and motivate student athletes to excel academically.
  • Develop sport-specific skills in athletes.
  • Provide individual instruction and guidance in a constructive manner.
  • Adhere to state and NFHS safety guidelines, rules, and regulations.
  • Manage, plan, and budget resources in accordance with district regulations and policy.
  • Manage, plan, and provide fundraising opportunities for the team and related costs.
  • Oversee local and extended/out-of-state trips and events that benefit the team and the school.
  • Maintain team equipment, and order uniforms and gear.
  • Participate in the hiring and training of assistant coaches.
