Stipends & Bonus

Up to two (2) stipends available for Masters, Doctorate, Special Education Credential, National Board Certification, or Bilingual credential (BCLAD or BASP).

Hiring Bonus available for hard‑to‑fill positions (Special Education, BCLAD) – $10,000 paid over 3 years.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Valid California Special Education teaching credential
  • Education Specialist Instruction Credential (Mild/Moderate; Moderate/Severe; or Extensive Needs with EL Authorization)
  • Education Specialist Instruction Credential (ECSE) – for preschool positions only
  • Valid Driver’s License or Government Issued Identification
  • Two years of experience in Special Education
  • Knowledge of and experience with a variety of assessment tools and techniques
  • Ability to assess, prescribe, instruct, and evaluate the learning needs of individual students
  • Detailed working knowledge of the various exceptionalities
Position Description

The Educational Specialist, under the direction of the Director of Special Education in consultation with the site principal, performs a variety of duties supporting the site’s Special Education program. The Educational Specialist will provide instruction in the subjects required by the district and authorized by credential(s) utilizing a course of study adopted by the Board of Education and appropriate learning activities, guides, textbooks and other instructional materials provided by the district.

and Responsibilities
  • Assists in identifying the students’ needs through assessment
  • Contacts the parent or guardian to obtain consent for assessments, reviews program plans, and secures permission for placement in an instructional component
  • Coordinates and develops the writing of the students’ Individual Education Plans/Programs (IEP) with active participation of parents/guardians
  • Participates with the Student Study Team in approval of instructional plans developed for each child
  • Monitors implementation and provides instruction and/or service as required in the approved Individual Education Plan (IEP)
  • Evaluates student progress, maintains necessary records indicating students’ performance, and revises Individual Education Plans (IEP’s) as appropriate
  • Coordinates, consults and collaborates with administrators, colleagues, general education classroom teachers, parents, and various support staff regarding instructional planning and services for individuals with exceptional needs
  • Creates and maintains an effective learning environment in which positive self‑concept and self‑help activities are stressed
  • Manages and plans responsibilities for instructional assistants assigned to the program
  • Attends to contractual obligations
  • Continues to improve as a professional educator by engaging in district‑provided and self‑selected professional growth opportunities
