Minimum qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a specialized field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP, etc.), or equivalent practical experience.
- 6 years of experience in the design and development of Autofocus (AF) or Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) systems.
- 3 years of experience in technical leadership.
- Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP).
- Experience with the testing, calibration, and validation of AF/OIS systems for high-volume consumer electronics.
- Experience with the development of control algorithms for AF/OIS systems.
- Excellent leadership skills with experience managing projects and driving cross‑functional teams to deliver on a product roadmap.
- Demonstrated expertise in system‑level (SW/FW/HW) co‑design and co‑optimization for performance, power, and manufacturability.

The US base salary range for this full‑time position is $189,000–$274,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
Responsibilities- Architect the roadmap and vision for next‑generation Autofocus (AF) and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) systems across Google’s hardware portfolio.
- Drive the introduction of novel AF/OIS technologies—from concept to production—to pioneer new imaging and sensing capabilities.
- Own the end‑to‑end design, development, and optimization of advanced control systems and algorithms to achieve state‑of‑the‑art AF and OIS performance.
