Job Description & How to Apply Below
Overview
Matic is bringing families out of the stone age of remarkably dumb disc home robots. Humanity spends roughly 2.5 trillion hours annually on home chores, worth $25 trillion in wasted economic value. We are on a mission to recapture this time and value with fully autonomous, useful, elegant, and affordable Wall‑E–esque home robots that families love and cannot fathom living without.
Aboutthe Role Responsibilities
- As a senior reliability engineer on the team, you will be responsible for driving all the reliability requirements across different sub‑systems.
- Work with design engineers to understand the physics of failure and apply them to designing accelerated test methods that represent field behaviors.
- Oversee the design and build of test setups for different loading scenarios – fatigue, vibration and shock, temperature and humidity, etc.
- Perform root‑cause failure analysis at different stages of testing.
- Prepare concise and detailed test plans, drive test execution, analyze test reports, and present results to all relevant stakeholders.
- Create and manage fleet analytics pipelines to systematically identify and eliminate field failures.
- Lead design initiatives that require particularly detailed reliability‑oriented testing and analysis.
- Strengthen DFR practices while acting in a cross‑disciplinary fashion spanning all functions of mechanical, electrical and software engineering.
- Technical degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
- 2–5 years of work experience in a reliability engineering position.
- Track record of defining reliability targets and test plans for consumer electronic products.
- Experience driving the design of test setups for reliability testing.
- Statistical experience such as Weibull or familiarity with different accelerated test models.
- Solid understanding of Design of Experiments (DOE) and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).
- Comfort with a fast‑paced, startup atmosphere – you don’t shy away from the hard work.
- High level of maturity, ownership, and pride in your work.
- Genuinely motivated to help those around you.
- Passionate about learning outside of your normal comfort zones.
- Love diagnosing complex technical issues.
- Excited to do great work.
