Job DescriptionAs an Electrical Engineer on the Hardware Engineering team, you will play a hands-on, cross-functional role in developing, integrating, bringing up, and validating electrical and electronic systems for an autonomous vehicle platform. You will collaborate closely with Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, Software, Manufacturing, and Validation teams to deliver reliable vehicle hardware from concept through deployment. This position requires strong engineering rigor, practical problem-solving skills, and clear communication in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities- Support the development and integration of electrical and electronic systems for autonomous vehicle platforms.
- Work with engineers and technical leads to define electrical interfaces, component requirements, and integration plans.
- Support sensor, compute, power, harnessing, and vehicle electrical system bring-up.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues at the bench, subsystem, and vehicle levels.
- Assist with component selection, supplier communication, prototype reviews, and validation activities.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including interface control documents, wiring details, test plans, and release deliverables.
- Collaborate with hardware, software, systems, manufacturing, and validation teams to resolve integration issues.
- Support vehicle calibration, system testing, and manufacturing readiness activities.
- Participate in design reviews, root cause investigations, and cross-functional problem-solving sessions.
- Contribute to improving engineering processes, test procedures, and build readiness for production.
- Perform electrical system integration on the vehicle, including wiring, harnessing, power, and communication interfaces.
- Lead or support sensor and compute hardware bring-up on test benches and vehicles.
- Debug electrical issues on the bench and on vehicles using appropriate tools and methodologies.
- Support vehicle builds, testing campaigns, calibration efforts, and preparation for manufacturing.
- Help investigate field or production issues and drive them to resolution in collaboration with internal teams and suppliers.
- Work with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve technical problems and ensure components meet system requirements.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical engineering for vehicles, robotics, automation, aerospace, or other complex electromechanical systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related technical field.
- Proven experience supporting electrical system integration, bring-up, troubleshooting, or validation.
- Familiarity with sensors, compute hardware, power distribution, harnessing, or embedded electronics.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, interface drawings, and technical specifications.
- Working knowledge of vehicle or embedded communication protocols such as CAN, CAN-FD, LIN, Ethernet, or GMSL.
- Experience using electrical lab equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, logic analyzers, or CAN tools.
- Ability to debug issues across hardware, software, and system boundaries.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and documentation.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working on autonomous vehicle platforms or similar advanced mobility systems.
- Background in integrating complex sensor suites and compute platforms into vehicle architectures.
- Experience participating in design reviews, root cause analysis, and structured problem-solving activities.
- Exposure to production readiness activities, including manufacturing support, build readiness, and validation planning.
- Experience creating and maintaining engineering documentation, including test plans and release deliverables.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, highly collaborative engineering environment.
This role operates in a dynamic hardware engineering environment that includes both lab and vehicle settings. You will spend time at electrical benches using equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, logic analyzers, and CAN tools, as well as working directly on vehicles during system integration, bring-up, and testing. The position involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, frequent technical discussions, and participation in design and integration reviews.
Work may include hands-on support during vehicle builds, calibration sessions, and test campaigns, requiring comfort with a mix of desk-based engineering work, lab activities, and on-vehicle tasks in a fast-paced, iterative development setting.
