Overview

At Wisk, we are transforming the future of urban mobility through safe, all-electric, autonomous flight. We are looking for a Senior Controls Engineer to join our Control Laws Development Team to design, implement, and analyze control algorithms, state‑estimation methods, and autonomous flight software for prototype and full‑scale airplanes.

Responsibilities
  • Develop flight software models and improve existing models within the Control Laws Development Team.
  • Support Aerodynamics, Structures, Stability & Control, and Vehicle Management Software teams as part of the Aircraft IPT.
  • Analyze flight‑test data from the Subscale prototype vehicle to refine control‑law algorithms.
  • Coordinate analysis activities to verify design requirements for software certification.
  • Develop new GNC tools using MATLAB/Simulink best practices, supporting both SIL/HIL and flight‑test operations.
  • Run closed‑loop simulations in the flight‑physics simulation engine and improve software design models based on logged results.
  • Gain familiarity with vehicle avionics, software architecture, mode & controller algorithms, and analysis tools.
Requirements
  • B.S. or M.S. in Aeronautical/Aerospace or Mechanical/Electrical Engineering with at least 5 years of industry experience.
  • Previous work on a GNC team with strong knowledge of control theory.
  • Hands‑on experience creating control‑law algorithms and strong MATLAB/Simulink programming skills.
  • Knowledge of fixed‑wing and/or rotorcraft aerodynamics and aircraft flight dynamics.
  • Strong simulation background for testing control laws in a 6

    DOF environment.
  • Experience designing robust control and allocation algorithms, analyzing state‑estimation and sensor outputs (accelerometers, gyros, magnetometers, GPS, pressure transducers, etc.), writing software requirements for controls algorithms, and using simulation to aid control‑system certification.
Compensation and Benefits

Competitive base salary of $153,000 – $187,000 per year, based on location and experience. Additional compensation includes an annual bonus, long‑term incentive plan, and 401(k) with company match.
