Staff NPI Test Engineer
The primary objective of this role is to support manufacturing from a test and automation perspective in the production of Aurora’s hardware and delivering the benefits of self-driving technology safely, quickly, and broadly. A successful candidate is data-driven, excels at complex problem solving, has a strong engineering background with software and hardware skills, a product-focused mindset, and can lead cross‑functional efforts.
Responsibilities- Support and debug software tools used in manufacturing tests and provisioning.
- Closely collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to harden and optimize automated manufacturing test procedures.
- Perform data management and analysis to track production test performance metrics, prioritize top issues, and drive continuous improvement activities with cross‑functional teams.
- Provide technical test support to all local manufacturing areas, locations, and customers as needed.
- B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in data collection with electronic test equipment and data‑acquisition systems.
- Prior verification, validation, and testing experience with emphasis on debugging skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication of test status and results, including writing formal test reports/records.
- Experience in manufacturing test development and sustaining efforts at scale.
- Ability to read design drawings and wiring schematics.
- Excellent analytical abilities, technical writing ability, and a comprehensive understanding of problem‑solving.
- Programming experience in Python is required.
- Experience with Linux operating systems.
- Experience with Google Suite, JIRA, JAMA, and GIT.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced team environment.
- International travel to CM for on‑site bring‑up and support.
- M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering (with mechatronics experience), a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with data aggregation.
- Familiarity with FMCW LiDAR and/or RF transceivers.
- Experience with optical system prototyping and characterization.
- Experience in modern automotive electronics and diagnostic procedures.
The base salary range for this position is $181,000 - $262,000 per year. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
