This complex includes a 40‑by‑80‑foot wind tunnel and an 80‑by‑120‑foot wind tunnel. AEDC’s mission is to conduct developmental test and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, ground test and flight test.
Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers.
An exciting career opportunity exists for a Maintenance & Reliability Specialist supporting a team of engineers and technicians who maintain and operate the largest wind tunnel in the world. - Write and manage Statements of Work (SOW), technical specifications, and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for facility maintenance subcontracts on critical systems such as elevators, cranes, mobile elevated work platforms, and HVAC systems.
- Evaluate equipment failures and maintenance records (OWAMS, E‑Matrix, etc.) to identify inefficiencies and trends, shifting from reactive repairs to a proactive, condition‑based maintenance approach.
- Plan, schedule, and oversee subcontractor activities, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and the dynamic research testing schedule.
- Implement innovative and cost‑effective predictive maintenance strategies (vibration analysis, infrared thermography, oil analysis, etc.) to inform internal maintenance plans and subcontractor scopes of work.
- Collaborate with the Engineering Solutions Branch and system engineers on tools, techniques, and procedures for both internal and external maintenance work.
- Perform hands‑on fieldwork; multidisciplinary experience maintaining facility mechanical (hydraulics, pneumatics, compressors, pumps), electrical (motors), and control systems (PLC, instrumentation) is highly desirable.
