Our client, an innovative robotics start-up specializing in outdoor construction and light industrial solutions, is seeking a Lead Robotics Engineer to join their dynamic team. As a Lead Robotics Engineer, you will be an integral part of the engineering department supporting multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, problem‑solving skills, and a passion for creating practical, reliable robotic systems which will align successfully in the organization.
Job Title: Lead Robotics Engineer
Location: Mountain View, California
Pay Range: starting from $80.00 per hour
What’s the Job?- Audit existing engineering efforts across mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software disciplines to validate assumptions and identify risks.
- Define minimum viable product (MVP) and develop phased prototypes, establishing clear scope and technical priorities.
- Establish system architecture, integration strategies, and technical roadmaps to guide product development.
- Make unbiased, data‑driven decisions on project continuation, rework, or discontinuation to ensure project success.
- Create realistic, lean execution plans aligned with budget constraints, working closely with the founder and engineering teams.
- Extensive hands‑on experience in hardware product development, robotics, or mechatronics, particularly for outdoor or light‑industrial environments.
- Proven ownership of multi‑disciplinary projects from early prototypes through manufacturing launch, including low‑volume pilot builds.
- Strong background in systems integration, drivetrain design, motor control, and safety architecture for mobile platforms.
- Experience with person‑following or user‑responsive behaviors using practical sensor solutions like UWB, BLE, or vision systems.
- Embedded control expertise on microcontroller platforms such as ESP
32 or STM
32, with knowledge of RTOS or bare‑metal programming.
