Job Title:

Electrical Test Engineer

Job Description

The Electrical Test Engineer will define and execute comprehensive board- and system-level test plans for advanced embedded computing platforms. This role focuses on validating low- and high-speed interfaces, power systems, and overall system performance while troubleshooting complex hardware and software issues. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure thorough test coverage and will document results in clear, detailed reports for key stakeholders.

Responsibilities

+ Define and develop detailed board-level and system-level test plans for complex embedded systems.

+ Perform hands-on test execution on advanced computing platforms in a hardware lab environment.

+ Identify, analyze, and resolve bugs and issues uncovered during testing, driving them to closure.

+ Document measurement results accurately and create comprehensive test reports for stakeholders.

+ Collaborate closely with electrical engineering, firmware, component suppliers, and test automation teams to ensure complete test coverage with no gaps.

+ Solve complex system-level hardware and software issues, including interactions between various subsystems.

+ Validate low speed interfaces such as I2C, SPI, and CAN to ensure functional and performance compliance.

+ Validate high speed I/O such as PCIe, Ethernet, clocks, and DDR for signal integrity and proper operation.

+ Validate DC-DC converters and power-up and power-down sequences for reliability and compliance with design specifications.

+ Use lab instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, CAN tools, and spectrum analyzers to perform measurements and diagnostics.

+ Apply circuit and waveform analysis techniques to debug and optimize board-level and system-level behavior.

+ Contribute to board bring-up activities, ensuring new hardware operates as intended.

+ Support and execute fault injection testing and system-level validation to assess robustness and corner-case behavior.

+ Communicate test results, risks, and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.

+ 5+ years of experience testing complex embedded systems.

+ Hands-on experience defining and executing board-level and system-level test plans.

+ Strong background in validating low speed interfaces such as I2C, SPI, and CAN.

+ Proven experience validating high speed I/O including PCIe, Ethernet, clocks, and DDR.

+ Experience validating DC-DC converters and power-up/power-down sequences.

+ Proficiency with lab instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, CAN tools, and spectrum analyzers.

+ Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex system-level hardware and software issues on advanced computing platforms.

+ Strong verbal and written communication skills for documenting results and presenting findings.

+ Ability to work on site in a hardware lab environment five days a week.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

+ Proven knowledge of circuit analysis and waveform analysis for debugging and optimization.

+ Coding experience with programming and scripting languages such as Python for test automation and data analysis.

+

Experience with board bring-up, including initial power-on and functional verification.

+

Experience with fault injection testing to assess system robustness under abnormal conditions.

+

Experience with system-level validation, including integration and end-to-end testing of embedded platforms.

Work Environment

This role is based in a hands-on hardware lab environment, working on site five days a week. The Electrical Test Engineer will regularly use lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, CAN tools, and spectrum analyzers to perform measurements and debug complex embedded systems. The environment is highly collaborative, with frequent interaction with electrical engineering, firmware, component suppliers, and test automation teams to ensure complete test coverage.

Work involves direct engagement with advanced computing platforms, board bring-up activities, and system-level validation, requiring attention to detail and a methodical approach to testing and troubleshooting.
