Embedded Software Engineer, Robotics
About the role
We are seeking a talented algorithm engineering expert for our vehicle systems development in the Drive‑by‑wire field. Your position will involve the algorithm development of embedded ECU software for safety‑critical applications such as steering control, brake control, or throttle actuation. The development will involve model‑based development of embedded software as well as preceding phases involving prototyping components. You will use your experience in automotive series software development to create vehicle chassis control algorithms, draft requirements, and integrate the software in various verification and validation steps.
You will be responsible for drafting, designing, testing, and triaging the algorithms throughout their entire lifecycle.
Location:
Mountain View, CA office. This role is onsite at least four days a week.
- Build and improve vehicle chassis control algorithms for embedded ECU hardware
- Create functionally safe software by following common automotive functional safety standards
- Design vehicle control software on rapid prototyping tool chains, test algorithms on bench setups, HiL systems and vehicle platforms, and draft requirements for your algorithms
- Ensure software maturity and traceability with professional documentation and collaboration with requirements engineers
- Create and track software release plans as well as testing activities to achieve continuous integration of software products in vehicle and field testing
- Master’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics or a related field, ideally with a focus on automotive engineering
- 5+ years of experience designing electrical systems for automotive platforms
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement full‑time critical systems
- Competency in vehicle algorithm design, including vehicle‑related control algorithms and state‑machine design
- High proficiency in model‑based software engineering (MATLAB Simulink)
- Familiarity with rapid prototyping hardware such as dSpace Autobox or comparable tools (Speedgoat, ETAS) and accompanying software such as Control Desk
- Demonstrated ability to meet ambitious timelines with critical deliverables
- Experience with standards and practices such as ISO 26262, MISRA‑C and AUTOSAR
