Director, Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS)

Location:

Mountain View, CA – onsite. Travel 40% within the Bay Area is required to oversee all facilities and flight‑test locations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the strategic vision, design, and long‑term deployment of Wisk’s global Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) program across all corporate, engineering, R&D, and manufacturing environments.
  • Champion integration of corporate EHS protocols with aviation‑specific Safety Management Systems (SMS) and serve as the primary advisor to executive leadership on evolving EHS regulations, risk mitigation strategies, and industry best practices.
  • Manage a high‑performing team of EHS professionals to ensure operational compliance across current and future facilities.
  • Drive a proactive “Just Culture” framework that continuously reduces workplace risk while supporting rapid, cutting‑edge aerospace R&D, certified production, and flight testing.
  • Support Engineering, R&D, Manufacturing, Certification, Integrated Product Teams, and flight testing environments by embedding specialized hazard mitigations into operational workflows.
  • Plan and execute executive‑level compliance reviews, comprehensive facility audit programs, and internal incident investigation reviews.
  • Collaborate with external regulators (OSHA, EPA, AHJ) and aerospace industry partners to advocate for and establish premier EHS standards for autonomous aviation operations.
  • Integrate Wisk EHS systems with Boeing’s internal EHS standards and lead Boeing EHS audits of Wisk facilities.
Qualifications
  • B.S. or M.S. in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or a related engineering/scientific discipline.
  • 10–15+ years of EHS experience, including at least 10 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Experience in high‑tech, mission‑critical, advanced manufacturing, aerospace, or safety‑critical hardware development industries.
  • Hands‑on experience developing, scaling, and implementing enterprise‑wide EHS programs across multi‑site organizations.
  • Deep knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and local compliance standards, accident investigation methodologies, root‑cause analyses, and mitigation reporting.
  • Proven ability to lead high‑performing EHS teams that achieved measurable reductions in total recordable incident rates (TRIR) and navigated strict regulatory inspections.
  • Strong soft skills to influence front‑line employees and leadership.
  • Familiarity with Emergency Response Program (ERP) development, crisis management protocols, and occupational health tracking technology.
  • Preferably holds CSP or CIH certification; DOT hazardous materials and CA Title 22 (Div 4.5) certifications preferred.

Travel: 40% within the Bay Area to oversee all facilities and flight‑test locations.

Job Type: Full‑time.

Pay Range: $198,000–$248,000 per year.
