Technical Program Manager, Hardware Product Development

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager (TPM) to lead the end-to-end development and execution of a next-generation hardware product from concept through mass production. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, operations, product management, and manufacturing, driving complex cross-functional programs through all phases of the product lifecycle, including architecture definition, EVT, DVT, PVT, and production ramp.

The ideal candidate thrives in highly ambiguous environments, can navigate technical and operational challenges, and has a proven track record of bringing innovative hardware products to market at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Own and drive cross-functional hardware development programs from concept through production.
  • Develop and maintain integrated program schedules covering hardware, firmware, software, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and operations work streams.
  • Lead execution through critical development milestones, including:
  • Product Definition
  • Prototype Builds
  • Design Validation Test (DVT)
  • Production Validation Test (PVT)
  • Factory Ramp and Mass Production
  • Identify program risks early and drive mitigation plans across engineering and operational teams.
  • Coordinate design reviews, readiness reviews, build planning, issue tracking, and executive status reporting.
  • Partner closely with Hardware Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Firmware, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Operations, and Product Management teams.
  • Drive issue resolution during prototype and validation builds, ensuring rapid root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Manage dependencies across internal teams and external suppliers, contract manufacturers, and technology partners.
  • Establish clear program metrics and communicate status, risks, decisions, and tradeoffs to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Support manufacturing readiness, yield improvement initiatives, and production ramp activities.
  • Build scalable program management processes that improve execution efficiency across multiple product generations.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of Technical Program Management experience leading complex hardware products.
  • Demonstrated experience managing products through EVT, DVT, PVT, and production ramp.
  • Strong understanding of hardware product development processes and manufacturing operations.
  • Experience working directly with cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and drive alignment across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience delivering consumer electronics, wearable devices, robotics, AR/VR systems, compute platforms, networking equipment, or other advanced hardware technologies.
  • Familiarity with NPI (New Product Introduction) methodologies.
  • Understanding of supply chain management, manufacturing processes, reliability testing, and quality systems.
  • Experience working with global engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Strong technical foundation enabling effective engagement with hardware, firmware, and software engineering teams.
  • Experience managing high-volume production launches and sustaining engineering activities.
Success in This Role

You are able to bring structure to ambiguity, maintain momentum through complex technical challenges, and consistently deliver programs against aggressive schedules. You balance technical depth with operational rigor and can effectively align engineering, product, and manufacturing teams around a shared execution plan. Most importantly, you have a history of taking cutting-edge hardware products from early prototypes through successful mass production.
