Must Have Technical/Functional Skills
- Knowledge of PCB technologies and manufacturing
- Deep understanding of electronics, circuit theory, analog/digital circuits, and RF design.
- 5 to 8+ years of experience in PCB layout and design, physical layout (stack‑up), board schematic capture fulfilling design requirements.
- At least 5 years of experience building schematic symbols and part footprints.
- Sound knowledge of electrical & electronic components – Surface Mount & through Hole.
- Hands‑on experience in creation of footprints and sound knowledge of IPC standards associated with PCB design, fabrication & assembly and MIL standards, PCB library management.
- Software proficiency: expert knowledge of CAD layout tools (primarily Altium Designer).
- Physical layout & routing: designing the physical layout of PCBs, including component placement, trace routing, and layer stack‑up management, particularly for high‑speed, multi‑layer, and rigid‑flex boards.
- CAD tool utilization: using industry‑standard tools (e.g., Altium Designer) to create layouts, footprints, and schematic symbols.
- DFM/DFT implementation: applying Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Testability (DFT) principles to ensure the board can be produced reliably and cost‑effectively.
- Signal & power integrity: ensuring design compliance with signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) requirements to prevent EMI/EMC issues.
- Documentation & output: generating Gerber files, fabrication drawings, and assembly documentation (BOMs) for production.
- Library management: creating, updating, and maintaining component footprints and schematic symbols in EDA libraries.
- Prepare complex circuit board layouts to meet the physical and performance constraints imposed by electrical, mechanical and environmental project requirements based on input from engineers.
- Define the layout of the PCB according to electrical, mechanical, and manufacturability constraints using the CAD tools available.
- Take into consideration and follow design, signal integrity, power integrity, EMC and manufacturing guidelines.
- Complete board layout including all design considerations, routing, preparation for manufacturing.
- Interface with PCB manufacturers to resolve any problems related to design.
- Very good communication skills (verbal and written).
- Collaboration:
working with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers to optimize designs, resolve technical issues and meet project milestones.
