- Experience Level: 8 to 10+ years targeted (more experience is welcome).
- CAD Tools:
Onshape (PTC web-based CAD tool) is required. Creo or NX are secondary considerations if the candidate has a proven track record of picking up tools quickly. - Core Competencies: Strong GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) knowledge, drawing/modeling strategy, stack-up analysis, and managing third-party design consultants.
- Manufacturing & Fabrication: Must have hands-on experience with tubular chassis/space frames, welding, sheet metal, CNC machining, and general structural fabrication.
- Domain Exposure: Automotive or Tier-1 supplier background is a strong plus (specifically motorcycle or lightweight tubular frames/chassis).
- Environmental & Weatherproofing: Experience designing for harsh environments (handling vibration, UV radiation, solar heat loads, rain, and moisture ingress/weatherproofing).
- External Partner Management: Lead and coordinate design efforts with third-party consultants (e.g., battery module or frame developers), tracking deliverables and maintaining communication channels.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the mechanical bridge to the electrical team, handling component integration, PCB mounting, and cable routing decisions.
- Prototyping & Lab Work: Hands-on prototyping, bill of materials (BOM) management, assembling systems, ordering parts, and performing minor modifications using lab equipment (mills, saws, etc.).
- Product Context: Supporting hardware/photographic equipment mounted onto a two-wheeled vehicle.
