The Role As a Finance & Strategy Analyst on our Strategic Finance team, you’ll be at the heart of Thought Spot’s growth journey, driving financial performance and shaping key business decisions. This role offers a unique opportunity to collaborate closely with cross‑functional leaders to develop high‑impact financial models, provide actionable insights, and influence strategic initiatives that directly impact the company’s success.

Open to candidates located in either Phoenix, AZ or Mountain View, CA.

Responsibilities
  • Financial Modeling
    :
    Develop and maintain advanced 3‑statement financial models (income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow) to support company‑wide multi‑year planning, scenario analysis, and strategic decision‑making.
  • Business Insights & SaaS Metrics
    :
    Build and refine integrated financial models for ARR, ACV, and Renewals, leveraging sales capacity planning and other key SaaS metrics to project business performance and optimize growth.
  • Cash Projections
    :
    Lead the development and continuous refinement of cash flow forecasts, providing actionable insights to support strategic decision‑making and effective management of the company’s short‑term and long‑term cash position.
  • Reporting & Business Insights
    :
    Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages for leadership, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities; support board‑level materials, investor updates, and key internal reporting.
  • Cross‑Functional Partnership
    :
    Collaborate with Finance, Sales, Marketing, Product, Revenue Operations, and other department leaders to align budgets, forecasts, and strategic initiatives, ensuring efficient resource allocation and operational efficiency.
  • Strategic Initiatives Support
    :
    Participate in annual planning cycles, quarterly re‑forecasts, and ongoing business reviews; help evaluate strategic initiatives such as new product launches, pricing decisions, market expansion, and vendor negotiations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, automate reporting, and streamline data flows.
Qualifications
  • 3‑5 years of experience in Corporate Development, Equity Research, FP&A, Strategy, Consulting, Investment Banking, or a related analytical field (SaaS experience is a strong plus).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a quantitative discipline.
  • Demonstrated expertise in advanced financial modeling, including building and managing complex 3‑statement models from scratch.
  • Strong technical expertise in financial modeling and forecasting, with a keen analytical eye for building integrated models from scratch using Excel, Google Sheets, or other planning applications.
  • Experience with BI tools (e.g., Thought Spot, Tableau, Looker) and financial planning systems (Anaplan/Adaptive/Workday Planning) is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to turn complex data into actionable insights that drive business decisions.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation abilities, with the skill to distill complex financial data for senior leadership.
  • A collaborative mindset and experience partnering with cross‑functional teams to deliver impactful financial insights.
  • A results‑oriented professional with a high ownership mentality who is proactive, curious, and eager to drive continuous improvements and optimize financial processes in a scaling environment.
Compensation & Benefits

Estimated annual salary range: $95,000 – $130,000 per year. Actual compensation may vary and will be determined based on permissible, non‑discriminatory factors such as skills, qualifications, experience, and location of the selected candidate.

Benefits may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses; 401(k) plan; medical, dental, and vision benefits.

Hybrid Work Expectations

Spotters are encouraged to experience the energy of their local office with an in‑office expectation of 2‑3 days per week. This approach balances the benefits of in‑person collaboration and peer learning with the flexibility needed by individuals and teams.
