Operations Manager
LOCATION: Mountain View, CA
ANTICIPATED DURATION: 6 months
Role Overview
The Technology Sourcing & Procurement Specialist supports cross-functional initiatives of moderate to high complexity within the Quantum Computing Supply Chain. This role is primarily focused on procurement operations, supplier performance, and delivery execution, while still leveraging strategic sourcing principles where applicable.
The specialist exercises independent judgment to manage supplier relationships, monitor delivery performance, and ensure operational excellence across hardware and component supply chains supporting a rapidly growing investment area in quantum computing. This role serves as a key commercial and operational liaison between suppliers and internal engineering, operations, and program teams.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier & Delivery Management
- Own supplier delivery execution, including cycle time monitoring, delivery commitments, and issue resolution.
- Track, analyze, and report on KPIs and delivery metrics using dashboards and data tools.
- Manage supplier performance through scorecards, ongoing reviews, and quarterly business reviews (QBRs).
- Proactively identify delivery risks and work with suppliers and internal stakeholders to mitigate issues.
Procurement Operations & Program Execution
- Support execution of global commodity and product roadmaps aligned to quantum computing hardware initiatives.
- Manage multiple discrete procurement and supply chain initiatives with strong awareness of value, timing, and dependencies.
- Contribute to cross-project planning and coordination, ensuring alignment across engineering, supply chain, and operations teams.
- Collaborate closely with suppliers to build and execute scalable business frameworks that support long-term growth.
Logistics & Compliance
- Provide oversight for logistics operations, including import/export processes, customs compliance, and supplier shipping execution.
- Ensure suppliers meet operational and compliance requirements across global supply chains.
- Act as a commercial liaison between suppliers and internal partners, ensuring clear communication and timely escalation of issues.
- Keep key stakeholders informed of supplier performance, risks, and operational impacts.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to support product development, NPIs, and ongoing production needs.
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience in procurement operations, supply chain, or commodity management within a hardware or technology environment.
- Strong background managing supplier delivery performance, KPIs, and operational metrics.
- Experience supporting NPIs and working with hardware-centric supply chains.
- Hands-on experience with analytics and dashboarding tools (e.g., PLX-style internal dashboards, Tableau, Power BI).
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and translate insights into operational improvements.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical teams.
- Proven ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Background
- Hardware supply chain experience, including exposure to:
Commodity management, PCB wiring, Lead frame commodities - Experience working closely with hardware engineering teams.
- End-to-end supply chain or program management experience.
- Strategic sourcing experience (not required, but beneficial).
- Quantum computing knowledge not required.
Additional Notes
- Contract negotiation and management are handled by a separate team; this role focuses on supplier execution and operational performance.
- The role supports a long-term growth area viewed as the next major technology wave.
- Strong fit for senior program managers with a supply chain and hardware background looking to operate closer to procurement execution and supplier management.
The hourly pay rate range for this position is $50.00 to $61.16/hr (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
