Senior IT Applications Engineer Responsibilities
- Serve as the owner and subject matter expert (SME) for Aurora's collaboration and communication platforms (Google Workspace, Slack, etc.), strategizing the technical direction and roadmap for this domain, and acting as the go-to expert who troubleshoots complex issues for other support and engineering teams.
- Own solutioning for incident and alert management platforms (Fire Hydrant, Ops Genie, and similar) — building the integrations and automated workflows that strengthen Aurora's operational response.
- Eliminate repetitive manual processes by building robust process automations using respective platform APIs and scripting (e.g., Python, JavaScript/Google Apps Script).
- Define build‑vs‑buy strategy and licensing/optimization decisions, exercising sound financial judgment and using data and platform usage driven insights to manage cost and discipline SaaS spend.
- Design and automate identity and lifecycle workflows (onboarding, offboarding, role changes) and SaaS integrations across the enterprise ecosystem (Jira, Confluence, and related systems) using APIs, webhooks, integration platforms such as Workato, and identity/IAM tooling (Okta, SSO, SCIM).
- Drive adoption of Enterprise AI and productivity tools (e.g., low‑code/no‑code platforms, Claude, and similar), and act as the escalation point for advanced support across these platforms — partnering with Security, IT, and Engineering to deliver solutions safely and unlock new capabilities.
- 6+ years in IT, software engineering, or systems engineering, with a strong focus on enterprise applications, integrations, and automation.
- Proven hands‑on experience administering and delivering managed solutions on collaboration and communication platforms at scale (Google Workspace, Slack).
- Hands‑on experience with incident and alert management platforms (e.g., Fire Hydrant, Ops Genie, Pager Duty, or similar), including configuration and integration.
- Strong proficiency in a scripting language (Python, JavaScript/Google Apps Script) and extensive experience building integrations with APIs, webhooks, and integration platforms (e.g., Workato).
- Hands‑on experience with identity and access management and lifecycle automation — APIs, SSO, and SCIM provisioning (e.g., Okta or similar).
- Solid understanding of API usage and design, integration patterns, and cloud‑native architectures, including hands‑on experience with a major cloud platform and application deployments (e.g., AWS, GCP).
- Proven ability to collaborate and partner across teams and with senior leadership spanning IT, Software, Operations/Services, and Security.
- Broad SaaS administration experience across business and IT engineering platforms, including license management, technology management, and cost‑governance.
- Experience building reusable automation frameworks, integrations, and self‑service tooling across multiple platforms.
- Experience with Enterprise AI and low‑code/no‑code tools (e.g., Gemini for Google Workspace, Claude).
- Experience with AWS and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform), CI/CD pipelines and version control (e.g., Git Hub), and multiple cloud platforms (e.g., GCP).
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Google Workspace Administrator, Okta, Atlassian).
