Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Engineering, Sciences, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), querying databases or statistical analysis, or a relevant PhD degree.

As part of this team you fully immerse yourself in data collection, draw insight from analysis, and then zoom out to develop compelling, synthesized recommendations. Taking strategy one step further, you also persuasively communicate your recommendations to senior-level executives, roll-up your sleeves to help drive implementation and check back-in to see the impact of your recommendations.

As a Business Data Scientist on the Global Business Organization (GBO) Product Finance team, you won’t just analyze data, you will shape the commercial strategies of global entertainment and digital advertising. Within You Tube+, you will sit at the intersection of our massive Ad and Consumer ecosystems. You will leverage exceptional datasets to drive high-stakes, data-grounded business decisions.

This role is a dynamic sandbox for advanced statistical methodologies, causal inference, and econometrics. You will design, test, and deploy rigorous analytical frameworks that evolve our Global Business Organization’s multi-year priorities, metrics, and long-term strategies, directly influencing how billions of users and creators experience You Tube.

What You’ll Do
  • Drive Methodological Innovation:
    Advocate active experimentation and advanced statistical methodologies to evaluate product performance and enhance consumer and creator experiences.
  • Lead Strategic Problem‑Solving:
    Transform complex datasets into convincing, principled business narratives that present the Finance Point of View.
  • Influence Global Priorities:
    Own long‑term projects that redefine You Tube's global metrics, forecasting models, and organizational strategies, contributing directly to statistical incrementality.
  • Collaborate and Partner:
    Build cross‑functional relationships with product, engineering, finance, and economics leaders, using data storytelling to steer executive decisions.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Lead a portfolio of data-driven analysis projects within a technical team to guide and support decision making for You Tube.
  • Build relationships with the You Tube team and present the Finance Point of View (POV) in various decision-making forums.
  • Design infrastructure and tooling to assess the value customers derive from You Tube products (such as Demand Gen and Brand), and identify opportunities to accelerate budgets.
  • Build tooling to decompose growth drivers and surface areas of opportunity across all regions and channels.
  • Drive the development of next‑generation opportunity sizing methods and tooling, collaborate with partner teams (e.g., Brand Planner) to deliver consistent, high‑quality work to leaders and sellers, including contributing to the statistical incrementality workstream and co‑developing new methodologies with Econ.
Compensation

US: $138,000 - $198,000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits.
