Cloud Engineer - AWS

Skylo is hiring a Staff Cloud Engineer (AWS) in Mountain View, CA, onsite 3 days a week.

Design, implement and optimize AWS‑based cloud infrastructure. Shape architecture, drive automation, and ensure scalability, reliability and security across all environments.

• Lead design and implementation of scalable, secure and cost‑efficient AWS architectures.
• Define best practices for compute, storage and networking.
• Architect solutions for high availability, disaster recovery and business continuity.
• Partner with application teams to design cloud‑native solutions optimized for AWS.

• Drive Infrastructure as Code initiatives.
• Automate provisioning, scaling and configuration management.
• Improve observability and operational efficiency through logging, monitoring and alerting.
• Lead performance tuning and capacity planning.

• Embed AWS security best practices.
• Partner with the security team to meet SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR compliance.
• Implement zero‑trust principles and least‑privilege access controls.

• Mentor cloud and Dev Ops engineers.
• Influence long‑term cloud strategy, tooling and architectural decisions.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with product, security and engineering teams.
• Participate in design reviews, architecture boards and technical roadmaps.

• 8+ years cloud engineering, 5+ focused on AWS.
• Proven expertise with core AWS services (EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, VPC, Route 53).
• Strong proficiency in Terraform, Pulumi or Cloud Formation.
• Experience with Kubernetes, containerization and service mesh.
• Deep understanding of cloud networking, security and identity management.
• Proficiency in scripting/automation (Python, Go, Bash).
• Excellent communication, mentorship and leadership skills.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or Dev Ops Engineer – Professional.

• Experience with AWS Organizations and multi‑account strategy.
• Background in Fin Ops/cloud cost optimization.
• Prior experience in regulated industries (fintech, telecom, healthcare).
