Project overview:UX Writing & Content Design is part of a larger UX team working on experiences that help bring Google-branded devices and services to the world. We do this by shaping the language and communication with customers who explore, purchase, and enjoy Google-built hardware and subscription services.
The role:As a content designer, you'll join a Google Hardware design team working with a fast paced environment that touches everything from software development, packaging design, as well as the broader Android XR partners.
Responsibilities:In this role, you will:
1. Write clear and engaging UI textWe underpin great user experiences with simple, straightforward language rooted in research and user-centered design principles.
For example:
- Guiding users through complex journeys
- Helping users understand multimodal input methods
- Encouraging users to take action
We look beyond words to shape the product holistically, designing end-to-end user experiences from vision, to execution, to polish.
For example:
- Creating voice and tone guidelines
- Defining product principles and narratives
- Naming features and products
We collaborate to tell the story of a product's value across audiences and use cases, helping align teams on a user-centric narrative.
For example:
- Crafting vision and strategy narratives
- Shaping product and feature value props
- Defining privacy language and concepts
We play a key role in scaling product design in the Gemini era, folding patterns into a system and evolving the Android XR ecosystem
For example:
- Defining standards and styles
- Creating and refining LLM system prompts
- Establishing a single source of truth
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing, UX, HCI, or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience, including partnering with Eng, Product, UX and other cross-functional teams to build products
- Proven ability to independently drive content projects forward with minimal guidance
- Experience in user-focused product writing, including work in hardware, software, digital agencies, or other relevant settings
- Experience working alongside other designers in tools like in Figma
- Experience defining, training, and evaluating LLMs
- Experience with localization and accessibility best practices
- Familiarity with user experience research principles and practices and how to use data to provide informed user insights
- A portfolio of UX-focused writing samples and style guidelines
