Role Overview:
You will join a data-focused team responsible for building trusted, standardized data foundations that support reporting, analytics, and business decision-making. You will work across the full lifecycle of data initiatives — from understanding business questions and defining requirements to designing data models, developing proofs of concept, and partnering with engineering teams to product ionize solutions. The team works on large-scale initiatives, including redesigning data layers, developing foundational data assets, improving data quality and observability, and shaping data governance and discovery practices.

Responsibilities:

• Partner with Data Science, Analytics, Engineering, and business stakeholders to understand their data questions and determine the data needed.
• Translate ambiguous or under-specified requests into clear technical requirements, specifications, and actionable engineering tasks.
• Design schemas, tables, data models, and analytical data solutions that meet standards for trusted and well-documented data.
• Build proofs of concept, including technical design documentation and notebooks validated against real-world data.
• Use advanced SQL and Databricks to explore datasets, profile tables, validate data grain, evaluate joins, and assess solution feasibility.
• Collaborate with source data owners to understand upstream systems, dependencies, and data requirements.
• Work with Data Engineering throughout the development, testing, and user acceptance testing processes to ensure solutions meet requirements.
• Maintain a well-prioritized backlog of data requirements and initiatives.
• Help improve trusted data practices, including data quality, observability, schema monitoring, and data contracts.
• Leverage AI tools, agents, and workflow automation to boost team productivity and accelerate data work.
• Manage cross-functional conversations independently, clearly communicating progress, dependencies, decisions, and trade-offs.

Required Qualifications:

• 4–8 years of experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, or a closely related data-focused role.
• Demonstrated experience taking ambiguous business or data requests and translating them into clear, buildable technical requirements.
• Strong experience designing data models, schemas, and tables for analytical use cases.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks.
• Advanced SQL skills, including the ability to investigate unfamiliar datasets, profile tables, validate grain, and evaluate joins.
• Experience working collaboratively across Data Science, Analytics, Engineering, and business teams.
• Ability to independently drive initiatives from initial requirements through design, validation, and engineering handoff.
• Experience using AI tools to support research, development, analysis, or technical workflows.
• Strong communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
