- Design, implement, and evaluate advanced machine learning models using large-scale datasets to analyze and predict human preferences and behavior.
- Architect and maintain systems for model training and high‑performance serving.
- Perform statistical analyses on large-scale data to uncover patterns and derive actionable insights for product development.
- Publish original research in venues, contributing novel methodologies to the fields of machine learning and natural language processing.
- Collaborate effectively with partners to integrate ML models driving measurable improvements in quality and user experience.
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with computer vision, machine learning, or natural language processing.
- Proficiency in Python and software development.
- At least one scientific publication in conferences, journals, or public repositories (e.g., CVPR, ICCV, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR).
- Experience with JAX/PyTorch, building/launching ML models, and applied ML skills including large language models and NLP.
- Experience with quantitative research and data analysis.
- Experience with Google infrastructure such as Flume.
- Two years coding experience and one year owning and initiating research agendas (preferred).
Google Research builds the next generation of intelligent systems for all Google products. Research scientists work on real-world problems spanning machine learning, data mining, NLP, hardware and software performance analysis, and core search. You will set up large-scale tests, deploy promising ideas, manage deadlines, and contribute to the research community through publication and collaboration with partner universities.
CompensationUS: $147,000 – $211,000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + bonus + equity + benefits.
