ML Research Scientist, Prediction and Smart Agents

What the role actually is

Nuro is hiring an ML research scientist for prediction and smart agents. The role appears focused on how autonomous systems model the behavior of other actors and use that understanding to make better driving decisions.

This is an autonomy research job with a strong behavioral component. The work affects how an embodied AI system interprets traffic scenes and responds to human-driven uncertainty.

• Develop prediction models and smart-agent approaches for autonomous driving
• Evaluate learned behavior models across simulated and real-world scenarios
• Work with autonomy teams on planning, prediction, and deployment constraints
• Improve how the system reasons about dynamic road users

• Research background in ML, prediction, agents, robotics, or autonomous systems
• Experience building and evaluating models for sequential decision-making
• Ability to reason about uncertainty in physical environments
• Comfort collaborating with production autonomy engineers

The title is technical, but the problem is deeply interaction-oriented. Prediction work determines whether an autonomous vehicle can behave around people in ways that are smooth, legible, and safe.
