• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., C++).
• 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture (e.g., Linux).

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• Experience working with streaming media.
• Experience working on client software and with iOT devices.

In this role, you will be working on a technology stack that runs on different pieces of hardware (e.g., speakers, TVs, smart displays, etc.) and is used by many different hardware partners. With your technical expertise, you will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. You will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first‑party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our users’ interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

The US base salary range for this full‑time position is $166,000-$244,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. • Design and develop features to create a rich cross‑device media experience on Cast Devices.
• Work with our Media service and hardware partners to create a rich media experience on different Cast Devices.
• Work across functions and teams including Nest, Assistant, Android, and You Tube, as well as with External Partners (e.g., OEMs and Media Service Providers) to help drive the direction of the Cast ecosystem.
• Help apply engineering practices to build the foundation of new systems.
