The Developer Platforms and Experiences (DPX) organization has the mission of making everyone in Linked In R&D more productive and successful. The charter includes all our core developer infrastructure to Build, Test and Deploy our software, the applications frameworks that we leverage to build our user facing products and the Platform capabilities that power our product innovation.

As a Principal Staff Software Engineer within the DPX team, you will help envision the next generation of products and tools that help automate significant parts of the developer workflow. As a key member of this team, you will get an opportunity to influence, transform, and create an amazing experience for engineers  will identify, develop, and lead strategic investments to make development iterations faster and make step function improvements in the lives of developers.

You will have the opportunity to engage the industry-wide developer community and contribute to open-source software as well. The successful candidate will be a strong thought leader and proficient code contributor in the developer productivity space.

Responsibilities:

• Build software proofs of concept, production ready applications, and large scale systems, through your own significant code contributions and by guiding your teams.
• Own the design, development, testing, deployment and craft of your team’s infrastructure and systems, with high reliability and scalability.
• Build operational excellence roadmaps, drive adoption of best practices from design to delivery, and improve developer feature/code velocity.
• Leverage your deep and broad technical expertise to mentor engineers and provide leadership on resolving complex technology issues.
• Work across Engineering to build relationships with other teams and use their feedback and understand their goals to build and prioritize a strategy and roadmap for your team, and for products that may span multiple teams.

Basic Qualifications:

• BA/BS Degree or higher in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or related practical experience
• 10+ years of experience in software design/development
• 7+ years in a technical leadership role overseeing large, cross-functional teams.
• 7+ years experience in/with programming skills in languages such as Python, Go, Java, or Rust
• Experience developing developer infrastructure and services, including development and code collaboration environments, CI/CD platforms, and measuring software development productivity and quality.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Deep understanding and significant practical experience leveraging Large Language Model (LLM) based coding and productivity tools to enhance developer velocity, code quality, and system design.
