Google's software engineers develop next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Our products need to handle information at massive scale, extending well beyond web search. We look for engineers who bring fresh ideas from areas such as information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design, and mobile tooling.
As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project that is critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as our fast-paced business evolves.
The Payments Platform is a core functionality of every major product at Google—including Ads, Cloud, Play, You Tube, Assistant, Android Pay, and Google Wallet—that supports business growth. Whether paying online with Autofill, using tap-and-pay in stores, or leveraging the Google Pay app, the Payments team focuses on making payments simple, seamless, and secure. In addition, the team powers the money movement between Google and its consumers and businesses.
Compensationand Benefits
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000–$211,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience with software development or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
- 2 years of experience developing large‑scale infrastructure, distributed systems, or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
- 2 years of experience programming in Java.
- 1 year of experience in web development or managing web development products.
- 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- Experience developing accessible technologies.
- Experience in commerce such as e‑commerce platforms, payments, and billing.
- Experience with testing features or infrastructure across Web, Android, and iOS; developing server‑side user interfaces implemented across multiple surfaces; or working with experiment configurations and metric analysis.
- Write product or system development code.
- Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices, including style guidelines, code quality, testability, and efficiency.
- Work with Product Managers and User Experience (UX) Designers to refine requirements.
- Design, test, and maintain server‑side rendered user interface (UI) code in Java.
- Implement new optimizations for multiple forms of payment.
