Job Description & How to Apply Below

Overview

Each year, 2.5 trillion hours are spent on household chores. At Matic, we’re on a mission to recapture that lost time, and we’re doing it by revolutionizing home robotics.

Our first product, also called Matic, is a Wall-E-esque floor cleaning robot. We ve built what amounts to "full self-driving in the home” with real-time 3D mapping, adaptive path-tracking, and a precise semantic understanding of the home. Our breakthroughs in spatial AI allow Matic to work reliably in real homes, using only RGB cameras and neural networks running on-device.

Privacy First. What happens in the home, stays in the home. Our robots are private by design, with all data processing performed by the robot itself, not in the cloud.

Our Approach. Before the iPhone, consumers adopted several distinct devices; cell phones, PDAs, and portable music players each served a particular need. We believe in a similar progression for home robotics, starting with single-purpose robots and building iteratively toward more complex capabilities over time.

Our Culture. Matic is a tight-knit and collaborative team, singularly focused on building products our customers will cherish. We re ultra-hardworking people committed to solving tough problems that save precious time and energy.

About

The Role

We’re looking for a Full-Stack Engineer who’s excited to craft delightful end-to-end experiences for our web platform. As one of the earliest members of our team, you’ll work closely with product, design, and marketing to create an incredible user journey—spanning our responsive e-commerce site to the cloud services that power it. If you enjoy switching contexts from front-end UI/UX to backend APIs and want to shape a world-class product used by thousands of customers, we’d love to hear from you!

What

You’ll Do
  • Build a web platform that seamlessly connects various user interfaces, pre-order and checkout flows, and backend services to shape critical customer journeys, everything from their first impression of Matic to becoming repeat customers and our biggest evangelists.
  • Brainstorm with robotics engineers, hardware designers, product managers, and marketers, to ship production-ready experiences that push the boundaries of what people expect from consumer robots.
  • Implement APIs and data pipelines that stream real-time fleet telemetry from thousands of robots to intuitive, interactive dashboards—enabling our team to close the gap with our customers for faster and better product decisions.
  • Scale our infrastructure on AWS, integrate payment gateways, and ensure that near-instantaneous load/response times, high security, and reliability are top priorities in every release.
  • As part of a small, talented team, you’ll be a key contributor to code reviews, technical discussions, and setting the highest standard for clean, maintainable, and well-architected code.
What We’re Looking For
  • 3+ years of full-stack experience, with a track record of owning and shipping end-to-end web interfaces at a breakneck pace.
  • A deep obsession with crafting delightful user experiences, driving design, marketing, and product intuition into bulletproof code.
  • Systems-level understanding of ES6+, React, Next.js, and Type Script, and deep comfort with the modern JavaScript tooling and ecosystem that goes well beyond front-end development.
  • Excellence in server-side architecture and development in Node.js / Python (knowing Rust is a plus), with proficiency in designing REST / Graph

QL endpoints and interfacing with relational databases like Postgre

    SQL.
  • Hands-on experience deploying and managing third-party services (AWS, analytics, customer support) with a keen eye for security best practices.
  • A hunger to learn new skills and collaborate across design, marketing, product, and other engineers across the entire stack.
  • Pride in your programming and attention to detail.
  • Comfort with a fast-paced, startup atmosphere -- you don’t shy away from the hard work.
