Principal Engineer, Platform and Embedded Systems

AMPLY is an energy technology company engaged in electric vehicle fleet charging and management. We are seeking an individual with exceptional skills in embedded firmware systems design.

• Design, test, validate and document AMPLY’s technical charging depot, including local micro‑controllers for onsite use.
• Test and validate 3rd‑party EV charging station hardware and ensure interoperability, service SLA, and compliance with CCS, OCPP and vehicle‑to‑charger communication standards.
• Define AMPLY EV charger hardware specifications and lead validation processes with end‑to‑end system performance of 99.5%+ availability.
• Carry out validation and regression testing of firmware on existing cloud‑platform integrations.
• Bootstrap and support EV charging station installations in laboratory and field environments.
• Design and develop depot technical architecture, including AMPLY’s site‑local controller embedded system.
• Develop and maintain hardware and system test fixtures and firmware configurations for cloud integration.
• Work closely with development and operations teams to ensure the industry’s highest availability and reliability.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics or Computer Engineering.
• 5+ years of embedded software development experience.
• 3+ years of hardware and firmware specification and validation of low/medium voltage EV charging stations.
• 5+ years of embedded software testing and validation experience in the EV, automotive or electrical industry.
• Strong knowledge of level 2/3 charging protocols (CCS, OCPP, Char In) and experience with vehicle‑to‑charger‑to‑cloud integration testing.
• Familiarity with M2M communication standards and platforms.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Proven ability to produce technical documentation.
• Good programming skills in Embedded C, C++, Linux and Python; experience with IoT frameworks.
• Proven track record of problem solving with a sense of ownership and urgency.
