Principal Engineer, Platform and Embedded Systems
Full-time.
AMPLY is an energy technology company engaged in electric vehicle fleet charging and management. We are seeking an individual with exceptional skills in embedded firmware systems design.
Responsibilities- Design, test, validate and document AMPLY’s technical charging depot, including local micro‑controllers for onsite use.
- Test and validate 3rd‑party EV charging station hardware and ensure interoperability, service SLA, and compliance with CCS, OCPP and vehicle‑to‑charger communication standards.
- Define AMPLY EV charger hardware specifications and lead validation processes with end‑to‑end system performance of 99.5%+ availability.
- Carry out validation and regression testing of firmware on existing cloud‑platform integrations.
- Bootstrap and support EV charging station installations in laboratory and field environments.
- Design and develop depot technical architecture, including AMPLY’s site‑local controller embedded system.
- Develop and maintain hardware and system test fixtures and firmware configurations for cloud integration.
- Work closely with development and operations teams to ensure the industry’s highest availability and reliability.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics or Computer Engineering.
- 5+ years of embedded software development experience.
- 3+ years of hardware and firmware specification and validation of low/medium voltage EV charging stations.
- 5+ years of embedded software testing and validation experience in the EV, automotive or electrical industry.
- Strong knowledge of level 2/3 charging protocols (CCS, OCPP, Char In) and experience with vehicle‑to‑charger‑to‑cloud integration testing.
- Familiarity with M2M communication standards and platforms.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Proven ability to produce technical documentation.
- Good programming skills in Embedded C, C++, Linux and Python; experience with IoT frameworks.
- Proven track record of problem solving with a sense of ownership and urgency.
