Senior Software Engineer – Private Markets The Company

Storm2's client is an AI-native wealth platform taking the tools that used to be reserved for ultra-high-net-worth families (private equity, venture, private credit, other alternatives) and opening them up to a far wider audience. They're building the software layer underneath all of it: intelligent portfolios, real-time trading, and the data infrastructure that makes private markets actually work at scale.

Alternatives are where most wealth platforms fall over. The asset classes are complex, the workflows still run on spreadsheets and email, and the people building the tooling rarely understand fund structures, capital calls, or distributions well enough to model them properly.

This role is the fix for that. You'll work directly with the Private Investments Team to build and own the backend systems that power the alternatives platform end to end: fund onboarding, deal execution, capital calls, distributions, investor allocations, and performance and cash-flow tracking.

You won't be handed clean specs. The requirements are domain-heavy and genuinely ambiguous, and a big part of the job is turning how the investment team thinks about a fund into data models and services that hold up under real complexity.

If you've spent time near private markets and watched good processes stay manual because the software was built by someone who didn't understand the asset classes, this one will feel personal.

It's equal parts systems engineering and product thinking. The things you build become the internal tooling fund ops depends on and the experience investors actually see, so accuracy and auditability aren't nice-to-haves here, they're the whole point.

The team is small and the surface area is large. This suits someone who wants to own a domain, not a narrow slice of one.

• Designing and owning backend systems across the full lifecycle of private market investments, from fund onboarding through capital calls and distributions
• Architecting data models and services for complex fund structures and investor allocations, with consistency and auditability built in from the start
• Building APIs, workflows, and internal tooling to track performance, cash flows, and portfolio exposure across alternative assets
• Turning traditionally manual processes (subscription docs, diligence, investor reporting) into scalable product
• Working across investment, product, legal, and operations to translate investment strategy into clean system design

• 7–10 years as a software engineer, with strong command of Python
• Solid backend and systems fundamentals, and a track record shipping production systems with real-world complexity
• Enough familiarity with private markets to hold a proper conversation about fund structures, capital calls, and distributions (PE, VC, private credit)
• Comfort operating in ambiguity and partnering closely with non-engineering stakeholders
• Real product sense: you care how the systems you build land for the people using them
• Direct experience with alternatives workflows: fund admin, investor onboarding, reporting
• Background in fintech, wealth management, or investment platforms
• Experience building systems where data integrity and auditability are non-negotiable
