Position

Information

The Career Center Specialist supervises the operation of a high school Career Center, educates students and parents about college and career options, trends and procedures in college and career planning. This position develops professional relationships with college representatives and community members regarding college entrance and career planning, creates instructional materials and presents career‑related information in the classroom, and acts as a liaison with businesses and community organizations to establish volunteer and employment opportunities for students.

Shift Details: 7.0 hours per day; 183‑day calendar
Continuing Position: Employees have reasonable assurance of continued employment to the following school year. However, an employee’s total work hours, work locations, and the designated beginning and ending times may vary.
FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt
Hourly Rate: $37.81 to $41.66 (hourly) (2025‑26 Classified Support Staff Salary Schedule)

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • In addition, a para educator must meet one of the following:
  • Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university.
  • Completed an apprenticeship as a para educator, in a program registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council.
  • Received a passing score on one of the following PESB approved assessments:
    • Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment
    • Master Teacher Inc. Para educator Online Training Program
Licenses/Special Requirements

Successful candidates are required to complete mandatory, in‑person training/orientation prior to their official start date.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.

The Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) provides access to health care services. Our benefits are provided to eligible positions through SEBB (School Employees Benefits Board). Eligibility for SEBB state health insurance coverage is determined by working 630 hours during the school year. Eligibility for a state retirement plan through the Department of Retirement Systems (DRS) is determined upon hire and is based on a variety of factors.
