Overview

As an Actuarial Analyst

II at Premera, you will support vendor invoice reconciliations, financial reporting, and ROI simulations when contracting vendors. The role is hybrid and located on our campus in Mountlake Terrace, Washington. You will perform actuarial calculations across product development, benefits, reimbursement, and more, while ensuring data integrity and delivering analytical reports to stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct vendor invoice reconciliations and financial reporting.
  • Assist with ROI simulation and contract evaluation for vendors.
  • Extract data, maintain analytical models, and perform provider impact studies and statistical analyses.
  • Produce various analytical reports monitoring utilization, cost trends, revenue, claims liability, membership, administrative costs, and provider reimbursement.
  • Develop and maintain computer programs in SQL, Python, or other languages to support analyses, processes, and reports.
  • Consult with internal and external customers to assess project scope and complexity.
  • Complete projects accurately and efficiently, meeting timelines and reporting status.
  • Document project work plans, outputs, reviews, and other documentation for peer‑review and continuity.
  • Present findings to multiple levels of internal and client leadership.
  • Assist in training entry‑level analysts.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field, or (4) years of work experience.
  • (2) years of actuarial analysis experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge of SQL or other data‑querying tools.
  • Knowledge of Python or another programming language.
  • Preferable:
    Knowledge of health insurance concepts and terms.
  • Preferable:
    Experience in health insurance and/or an actuarial department.
  • Preferable:
    Proficiency in Tableau and visual storytelling.
  • Preferable:
    Experience in automation of codes and procedures.
  • Preferable:
    Participation in an actuarial student program.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong project management, time management, and multi‑tasking skills.
  • Proficiency with a computer programming language and aptitude to learn from others.
  • Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong analytic, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills—able to explain trends in data to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization.
  • Ability to conduct self and peer reviews to ensure accuracy of work products.
  • Ability to take direction well and work in a fast‑paced environment.
Physical Requirements

This is a sedentary role that may require exerting up to 10lbs of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The role requires keyboard use and clear communication in person and over the telephone.

Compensation

National Plus Salary Range: $84200.00–$143100.00 (targeted to the midpoint of the range, depending on location, market conditions, and experience).
